Slow Cooker Cioppino

August 3, 2015

It is once again another gloomy and rainy day this early Florida morning. As I’m getting myself together to leave for work, I kiss my still sleepy boyfriend before I head into the kitchen to grab my lunch out of the refrigerator and what happens? The power goes out. I’m already running late so I look at my phone for to see if any emails have been sent out and my boss has sent out an email to everyone saying that the office will be closed until noon. Great I knew I should have stayed in bed… Many of the roads downtown are flooded and I’ve been receiving emails back and forth from co-workers with pictures of flooded exit ramps, roads and of course the office. I’m so over this rainy weather it’s suppose to be the sunny state! I think Florida’s upset about something. What’s up with this crazy weather?

I made my way back to my comfy bed even though the power was still out and the apartment began to become humid and warm from the power outage. Jeff got up a little while after I laid down to begin his day of work. He’s pacing through the apartment which is something he normally does out of habit so I go out to investigate. The power came back on but apparently the internet hasn’t returned so he’s pacing back and forth waiting for its return.

A few hours later my co-workers are emailing back and forth the weather report, roads that have stayed closed down and flooded areas they’re seeing on the news. My boss gives in and calls it a day telling everyone to stay dry. I find this perfectly wet and dreary day the perfect opportunity to make a nice warm soup. A beautiful and tasty Cioppino slow cooker soup comes to mind!
