Tonkotsu Ramen

August 24, 2015

Have you ever tried “real” ramen before? No, not that Styrofoam stuff in a cup called “noodles”. My first time having real ramen was in New York City at Menchanko-tei on 131 E 45th St. The bowl of shoyu ramen was heavenly and ever since having that first beautiful bowl of soup, I’ve been hooked. I’ve never been able to eat that horrible cup of noodles since and I hope with this post you’ll see that there are better, and tastier, ways of making ramen even if it is not from scratch. Chashu Pork

August 24, 2015

If you’ve ever had a bowl of ramen at a ramen shop you’ll know there are a bunch of toppings that can go on it. What’s your favorite topping? Mine, is the pork and the egg. I’ve experimented with different techniques on how to make a good pork topping. The pork topping is called Chashu pork, it’s like a Japanese barbequed pork.  Continue Reading…

Trip to Denver Botanical Gardens – Dale Chihuly

August 9, 2015

A fantastic journey through Denver!  While it may be the 21st most populated metropolis in the country, with 2.7 million people, it doesn’t feel like it. Denver is a great city, with character, culture and friendly people. Visiting my dad and stepmom in Boulder is always such a treat. Continue Reading…

Blueberry Lemon Pancakes

August 8, 2015

The first couple days of healthy eating were the most difficult. I became irritable and craved sweet stuff for about a week. It helped when I ate apples and bananas for breakfast. But when Eva posted a beautiful picture of fluffy blueberry pancakes on Facebook I couldn’t help myself.  Continue Reading…

Baked Salmon with Asparagus

Here is one of my favorite easy to make salmon recipes. Even before I started this crazy no sugar, preservatives and other funky stuff. It’s one of my favorites because all you need to do is add the salmon into foil pockets and add  everything in then bake and it’s done!

Slow Cooker Cioppino

August 3, 2015

It is once again another gloomy and rainy day this early Florida morning. As I’m getting myself together to leave for work, I kiss my still sleepy boyfriend before I head into the kitchen to grab my lunch out of the refrigerator and what happens? The power goes out. I’m already running late so I look at my phone for to see if any emails have been sent out and my boss has sent out an email to everyone saying that the office will be closed until noon. Great I knew I should have stayed in bed… Many of the roads downtown are flooded and I’ve been receiving emails back and forth from co-workers with pictures of flooded exit ramps, roads and of course the office. I’m so over this rainy weather it’s suppose to be the sunny state! I think Florida’s upset about something. What’s up with this crazy weather? Continue Reading…

The Beginning!

August 2, 2015

My stepmom Eva has such a wonderful and beautiful view on food and its presentation. She’s been part of my inspiration to begin my own journey through this blog craze thing. I’ve always wanted to share my stories, recipes of sweet treats (I’m a bit of a sweet tooth), and my love of the art world, but I had no idea where or how to begin. I kept making excuses as to why I shouldn’t start one rather than just jump right in.

Where do you begin with a blog? Isn’t that where everyone starts, at the beginning? But having 25 years of journeys, stories and challenges where do you “really” begin? Continue Reading…
